New Detroit Underground Bar Opened

Adding yet another underground music venue to the Detroit area, the basement of the Riverwood golf course of all places has recently become a hub for local Detroit bands. Located below the 1313 E. Broomfield Road resort, the venue is focused on dredging up local talent and showcasing new bands looking to break into the underground scene. The venue will be open every Friday and hopes to book a new band every week.

One of the coolest new places to catch a show, the venue holds about 200 making it perfect for seeing the Detroit talent before they were cool. The venue also has dart boards, pool tables, and tables set up for beer pong. The Underground was created due to a lull in golfers visiting the location during the winter season. Luckily, the owners decided to put the space to good use and give Detroit musicians another place to share their music. Great drink specials and no cover charge for those over 21, the Underground has the potential to become one of the prime locations in the area to catch local bands on the rise.

Open to the younger crows of individuals 18-20 for a $5 cover, people of all ages will get to witness a new hotspot in the Detroit area. What used to be Gimmie’s Pub, a burger joint for golfers is now being used to support the diverse and often under-exposed Detroit music scene. Stay tuned for developments in who will be playing The Underground as well as the latest news on what seems to be a rapidly expanding Detroit underground scene. Hey, if Pontiac can have an indie scene, why can’t the rest of the Detroit area? The Underground is open from 9pm – 2am every Friday.
