In association with the Grammys, director Amir Bar Lev, created a film that takes a look at the creative process and history of several different music genres through the eyes of some of today’s most influential electronic DJ’s and producers. Each of these electronic artists team up with influential musicians from different genres of music to collaborate and create a new track.
In the documentary, well known electronic DJ, Skrillex joins forces in a LA studio with members of legendary The Doors. In Detroit, The Crystal Method spends time working with Martha Reeves of The Vandellas and The Funk Brothers on the R&B number, “I’m Not Leaving.”
New Orleans jazz was very influential and an amazing cast of Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, Mos Def, Zigaboo Modeliste and Members of The Dap Kings were selected to partner with Mark Ronson to create an amazing southern mix in “A La Modeliste”. DJ Premier got together with NAS and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra of Boston for his collaboration. The film comes to an end in Nashville with Pretty Lights’ creating “Wayfaring Stranger” with LeAnn Rimes and Dr. Ralph Stanley.
