Lee Marvin Computer Arm
Lee Marvin Computer arm describes their music as rock and roll, nothing more, nothing less. One may be inclined to agree, but at first, the noisy punk influenced rock of LMCA seems nothing like what one would consider rock music. Bassist Zack Weedon, who is also a member of the Dirtbombs and Danny Kroha’s Readies categorizes Lee Marvin Computer Arm as noisy rock and roll, deviating from what Detroit music lovers would normally classify as rock.
A strange and intriguing fusion of old and new rock and roll, the band consists of brothers Zack Weedon, Casey Weedon, and Cory Weedon as well as their friends B.J. Horn and Todd McNulty. The band was formed by the friends as an outfit intended to be fun as well as serious. The name was sort of a joke that stuck and a commentary that if your band’s good, it doesn’t matter what your name is.
Just as important to the advancement of the Detroit underground music scene as more bluesy roots based bands such as the Muggs and the Detroit Cobras, the progressive rock style of Lee Marvin Computer arm pushes the envelope as to what is considered rock and roll in the scene. Members of LMCA are involved in other acts currently, but they seem to come back at least once in awhile for the serenity that is playing in a band with old friends. Keep an eye out on their Myspace page for all of the news and tour dates.
