Usually one would have to travel substantially further out west to hear a good variety of grindcore, but the hardworking electronic/grindcore Kissy Face Fashion Faux Pau offers a ridiculously good taste of Midwest grindcore right from your back yard (if you live in Detroit).  Off their recent release titled “Sexual Predators” the 8 Mile band is beginning to make their way out of the slums of Detroit and onto the national underground metal scene.

Blending keyboards and crazy effects with guttural screaming and vamping, Kissy Face Fashion Faux Pas takes the listener in a million different directions at once. Having recently replaced their singer and picking up Brett Bugni, who can be heard with Detroit outfits including the Severnaya Complex and the defunct Sender Receiver, the band is proving to be one of the more resilient (and extremely few and far between) successful underground grind metal bands from the Detroit Area.

Receiving good reviews from the underground music critics, “Sexual Predators” is their fist full release offers lyrical styles that range from “Angry Blood Brothers to Ion Dissonance lows”. The album is chock full of creepy synthesized noises that are in the song just long enough to make you ask “what the hell?” While the guitar riffs offer a great classic style of rock melody and soloing. Kissy Face Fashion Faux Pas has made a relatively available grindcore album, two things that generally do not go together. Fans of iwrestledabearonce will appreciate what KFFFP are trying to accomplish, and their new album is a great find for open minded music lovers.
