Since 2003, the Belmont in Hamtramck has been the place for rock scenesters. Located in the heart of Hamtramck, the interesting surrounding neighborhood simply radiates the feeling of Underground Detroit. Cheap PBR and up and coming local Detroit acts makes the Belmont a great reflection of the independent music scene in Detroit in all aspects. The layout and interesting events which take place at the Belmont separates the casual Detroit underground population for those who live and breathe it.

The layout really separates minglers with music fans gong shows, punk rock aerobics, and smack dab in the middle of the ’scene’, the Belmont is a perfect representation of the Hamtramck/Detroit underground scene. Some bands that have performed at the Belmont include the Detroit Cobras, Hard Lessons, Johnny Headband, the Paybacks, and a slew of other Detroit underground acts.

Beer flows from all around the world, and the place sometimes doubles as an art gallery. From well established and talented musicians, to some dude plucking around on a guitar, the Belmont has a wide variety of bad acts as well as good ones. The layout is somewhat bizarre with its shotgun hallway and the stage being located at the end. Terrible for short people, great for tall people.

One of the most unique bars in the area, the Belmont offers manicures and martinis on Monday, punk aerobics on Tuesday, and underground shows on the weekend. No matter how hip you are, the Belmont can make you even cooler.
