Elbow Room

Elbow RoomLocation:
6 South Washington Street
Ypsilanti, MI

The former biker bar has become quite possibly the hottest venue for rock shows. Mainly showcasing local artists, the Elbow Room has a unique corridor setup with a stage at the back and one of the best jukeboxes in the Ann Arbor scene. The venue hosts show spanning basically every sub-genre of rock including metal, indie, folk, and any other abstract vein you wish to imagine. The location of rugged Ypsilanti makes it one of those experiences that built character (think of having beer bottles thrown at you near Harpo’s; that kind of experience). Constantly receiving improvements in the sound system and acts, the Elbow Room is a great place to see some of the Detroit acts who are on the verge of breaking into the limelight.

The perfect hybrid of dive bar and music snob convergence, the Elbow room is a great place to hang out with early individuals who like their alcohol cheap and plentiful. The bands are primarily local and span a wide variety of genres all within the hue of rock music and the charm of the rough and tumble Ypsilanti area. The scenesters will discuss how authentic the experience is, while the frugal crowd will love the cheap beer in plastic cups vibe of the establishment. Keno players and those with short attention spans will love the distractions of old punk videos and gambling in case the indie rock show bores them. The Elbow Room truly has something for everyone.
