With a name borrowed from a defunct California watering hole, Smalls is on the Enclave of the Detroit enveloped Hamtramck. Cheap drinks, a killer sound system, and a diverse crowd make this a great place to catch a local Detroit show. The jukebox is amazing, and patrons of the bar are separated from the show by only a few feet of concrete. The stage area is wide open, of ample size, and gives the independent venue fell that you would expect from the Hamtramck area.

Voted best sound and lights by the Metro Times, Smalls Hamtramck was built in 1923 and the classic architecture has been perfectly complimented with modern style. Smalls was also included in Maxim, Blender, and Travel & Leisure’s list best places to catch live music. Not bad for a small place located in the heart of Hamtramck. With a constant stream of local shows being booked at Smalls, the modest establishment has been known to be a hell of a place to catch a show and a drink.
